coal-based hydrogen plant
Overview Also known as coal gasification hydrogen preparation, the coal-based hydrogen preparation consists of four parts, namely coal steam-turned coal gas, gas shift, pressure swing absorption (PSA), and hydrogen purification. Under high temperature, the charcoal or coke reacts with water vapor to form coal gas comprised mainly of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. The coal gas, after being subject to such procedures as temperature reduction, dust removal and desulfurization, is then mixed with water vapor and results in shift reaction, in which most carbon monoxide is changed into shift gas comprised of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, with the shift gas in turn being subject to PSA to obtain hydrogen with high purity. A traditional technique, the coal-based hydrogen preparation technique used to be used to make synthesized amine or produce large volume of hydrogen, such as those occasions requiring more than 10000m3/h of hydrogen. In view of the fact that Chinese hydrogen users are often decentralized and does not require large volume of hydrogen supply, we have developed the coal-based hydrogen preparation technique, which features low investment and low energy consumption and suits very well the need for small and medium-volume supply of hydrogen. In regions where the coal resources are rich and the requirement for hydrogen supply is above 1000m3/h, the coal-based hydrogen technique is the best choice. We have installed a number of these devices for our domestic and international customers and transferred the technique.
